Since our establishment in 1998 under the name "Kansai TLO", we have been transforming ourselves as a technology transfer organization, becoming a subsidiary of Kyoto University in 2016 and changing the corporate name to "TLO-KYOTO". And this year we celebrate our 25th anniversary.

Throughout those years, we have promoted practical applications of intellectual outcomes from our partner universities to feedback useful research results to society and have built a solid track record in industry-academia collaboration and technology transfer.

Academic innovations can be the driving force to change our future society. In this age where the social environment and its structure are changing drastically, there is an ever-growing need to act for the future creation as well as for resolving social issues. In order to achieve such new business creation, industrial technology enhancement and academic progress, technology transfer of groundbreaking research outcomes plays a crucial role. And technology transfer is collaborative efforts that complete with supports from industry - for the efficient collaboration, an optimal blueprint for the achievable future through utilization of such academic innovations needs to be presented to industry so that the industry can build a more affluent society based on such new ideas.

TLO-KYOTO will contribute to achieve and enhance successful collaborative efforts between academia and industry for a better world by pursuing university patents that meet industry needs and identifying compatible business partners. By doing so, we hope to create new values to stimulate the global society.
